Chief of Police Carl Scott

Chief of Police Carl Scott joined the Lamar Police Department June 2019.  Carl Scott is a graduate of Lake City High School and the South Carolina Justice Academy.  For 15 years, he was employed with the Florence County Sheriff’s Office, then joined the Kingstree Police Department in 2013.

Chief Scott is married with four children and five grandchildren.  Family and community are very important to him.

Public Safety is the daily mission of the Lamar Police Department and Scott is doing everything he can to make the community safer.  For the community, Scott wants everyone to know he has an open-door policy.  All town members are welcome to come visit him at the department, located behind Town Hall, or call with any concerns.  “Everything that we do, it takes the community helping us out in order to make it happen.  I enjoy my work.  Law enforcement is my life.  I believe in supporting young people, and encourage them to make decisions that will make for good futures.”

Thank you to all of those who support the Lamar Police Department.  The number of blue lights on residences have grown since I started and it is much appreciated.  Let’s continue to work together to make our town safer!
