The Town of Lamar new Council Member, after special election voting in January 2021, is Tyler Cook.

Mr. Cook replaces longtime Lamar Councilman Lang Howell, after announcing his retirement in October 2020.

Mr. Cook was sworn in on January 20, 2020 on the Town Hall lawn.

TOWN OF  LAMAR NONPARTISAN MUNICIPAL GENERAL ELECTION

TOWN COUNCIL – 1 SEAT TO FILL

The Town of Lamar announces the Special Election for a seat on Town Council to be held on Tuesday, January 12, 2021.  Any person wishing to register to vote in this election must do so no later than Sunday, December 13, 2020.  To register, contact the Darlington County Board of Elections and Registration at 131 Cashua Street, Darlington, SC or by calling 843-398-4900.

Office: Town Council – 1 seat to fill  – Term expiring December 2021.  

Filing fee will be $17.50

Citizens desiring to be a candidate for the above listed office may file at the Darlington County Elections and Registration Office, 131 Cashua Street, Darlington.  Books will be open for filing at 12:00 noon on Friday, November 13, 2020 and remain open during regular business hours until 12:00 noon on Wednesday, November 25, 2020.

At 9:00 a.m. on Election Day, the Poll Managers will begin examining the absentee ballot return envelopes.  This examination will be held at the Darlington County Elections and Registration Office, 131 Cashua Street, Darlington.

On Thursday, January 14, 2021 at 10:00 a.m., the Darlington County Board of Elections and Registration will meet at 135 Cashua Street, Darlington, to determine the validity of ballots challenged in this election and to certify the election.

Any runoff will be held two weeks after the special election on Tuesday, January 26, 2021 – provided that a candidate does not receive a majority vote.

The polling location will be open from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Election Day.
