Tyler Cook was sworn in as a new Town of Lamar Councilman on January 20, 2021.
Tyler James Cook is a relative newcomer to Lamar, but immediately fell in love with this hidden gem of the Pee Dee. As a member of Town Council, Tyler is eager to serve his community, and hopes to grow the town by encouraging young families to consider Lamar as their home, too.
A native of Aiken, South Carolina, Tyler comes from a family with a history of public service. He hopes to continue that legacy of service during his tenure on Town Council. A quick learner with a servant’s heart, he is always excited to hear from residents about their concerns and their goals for Lamar.
Tyler teaches History and Music at Trinity Collegiate School, and adjunct teaches online for Florence-Darlington Technical College. In his free time, he enjoys working in his yard; composing and performing music; and writing about music, culture, and the arts.
