Community Planning Project

In 2018, the Clemson University Master in City and Regional Planning Program conducted an analysis of the Town of Lamar.  The Program applied expertise and research techniques to inform the town of potential community planning projects.  The Town of Lamar is in the process of implementing improvements to Main Street and community livability.  You can read the full report here.

Wastewater in Lamar

In an effort to serve you better, we have created a place where you can report wastewater odors to the Lamar Public Works Department.

When you detect an odor due to the Zion wastewater treatment facility in Lamar, we want to hear from you.

If a complaint needs immediate attention outside of our normal Town Hall hours, please call 843-639-1503.

Utilities

Water Payments are due on the 20th of the month.  All late payments received after the due date will be assessed a 10% late fee.  A $50 reconnection fee must be paid before water service is restored to a disconnected residence for  non-payment.  Customers that tamper with water service equipment after it has been disconnected will be assessed a $200 tampering fee.   ***If your water service is disconnected, so will your trash collection service.

Beginning October 1, 2022, the Town’s water and sewer rates will be raised five percent.

Garbage Collection

Garbage is collected every Monday and Thursday.  For setting up service at a new residence, please contact Town Hall.

Zoning Ordinances *You can review the ordinance book at Town Hall.  Below are important ordinances, useful for residents!

Rights of Way (Zoning ordinance book p.5)
3-6: Rights-of-way easements for streets and roads shall not be considered a part of a lot or open space, or front, rear or side yard for the purpose of meeting lot dimension or area or yard requirements.
Check the zoning ordinance book before making plans for houses, buildings, fences, etc on your property.

Yard Sale Permits

A yard sale permit is $5.00.  Please visit Town Hall to obtain a permit before hosting a yard sale at your residence.  You may do so during Town Business Hours.

You may download a Business License Form and terms here.  Please complete and remit business license fee to Town Hall.  For questions, please contact the Town Administrator, Timothy Dargan.

The Worthless Check Program is a FREE service to you.  Accepting checks for goods and services is convenient for your customers, but when one goes bad, it is not so convenient for you.  The Fourth Circuit Solicitor’s Office Check Recovery Program is here to help.  This program offers an efficient, effective and prompt way to recover monies from bearers of bad checks.  Take back control of your cash flow.

Voting

All voting specific to the Town of Lamar (Town Council, Mayor) will be held at Town Hall on Election Day.  For all other voting (District, Presidential, etc), there will be two poles open on Election Day-  Lamar High School and Town Hall.
