Town Clerk

Job Summary & Responsibilities:
The Town of Lamar seeks qualified candidates to serve as Town Clerk. Position serves as a clerk to the Lamar Town Council and assistant to the Lamar Town Administrator. This position is responsible for administrative work in Town Hall including the preparation and maintenance of a variety of official municipal documents, issuance of various licenses and permits, and recording various documents.
Comply with all relevant South Carolina Statutes pertaining to the office of Town Clerk; perform all duties and exercise all powers incumbent upon or invested in Town Clerks by South Carolina law.
Job responsibilities include attending public meetings and recording minutes, notifying the public of public meetings, completing tasks in a timely manner.
The position is full-time, benefits eligible.
Education/Training:
- High School graduate required,
- Three or more years of prior clerical and/or municipal experience strongly desired.
- A combination of education, training, certification, and experience will be considered.
- Applicants should possess excellent communication and computer skills. MS Word and Excel experience required.
Compensation: $17.00 per hour. Pay rate negotiable based on experience.
